The requirements for Electrical Wiring Interconnection Systems (EWIS) are technically intricate and logistically complex.
Littelfuse masters the routing design with CATVIA V5, the manufacturing and the electrical test to ensure the delivery on time and on spec. The maturity analysis done by SPACE® (www.space-aero.org) in 2017 impressively demonstrates it.

Littelfuse obtains Production and Maintenance Organization Approvals according to EASA part 21G and part 145.
Littelfuse has roots in the military segment. It is here that we developed into specialists for the repair of complex weapons systems i.e. for the ROLAND and PATRIOT systems.
The serial production of the KZO system for Rheinmetall GmbH followed. Littelfuse acted as general contractor, responsible for the production of the ground control station, a containerized control center with three workstations, the maintenance vehicle, a containerized workshop, as well as for some subsystems. This project took three years to finalize, with a total contract volume of several millions.
Based on a build-to-print order from Airbus Helicopters Deutschland GmbH, we delivered the entire Wiring for the upgrades of all Bundeswehr heavy transport helicopters CH-53 in several versions.
Littelfuse is now preparing for potential subcontractor roles for projected procurements by the Bundeswehr: the heavy transport helicopter, the Tornado successor model and diverse land systems.
Littelfuse caters wire harness systems to the ARIANE upper stage and to numerous satellite projects such as GALILEO, EDRS-C, MTG, MetOp.
Our spectrum of capabilities comprises design, digital mock-up routing, the manufacture and, if applicable, the implementation into the physical mock-up, validation and tests, as well as integration support in the clients' facilities. Littelfuse runs three ISO 8 clean rooms.
The satellite platform MTG is a good example. In a block-shaped structure of approx. 11m³ more than 11.5 km of cables were laid. Through the software driven test system, more than 10,000 test points are connected and electrically tested.
Starlight & Wastewater Systems
StarLight — It Was Never Easier to Reach the Stars
With the ultra-flat LED projectors and optical fibers laid on the panel rear side, we can produce impressive light sceneries in even the most difficult installation situations.
Starlight Unit
The Starlight Unit is a programmable LED projector with passive cooling. The Starlight Unit was developed according to ABDO100 and RTC/DO-160G and is connected to the 28 VDC power system. Ordered by various international completion centers, more than 500 StarLight units have been installed into different airplane types (B787, B777, B767, B747-8, B737, A340, A330, A320, F7X). Their dependability contributes to customers' satisfaction.
Starlight Panel
The Starlight Panel is a kit especially developed for the Aircraft Cabins, to enhance existing panels with StarLight. It enables a realistic starry sky or fantastic light patterns with different brightness and sparkle effects. Our experts master every installation situation. Whether the installation is in small side panels or large domes and whether it's a high-gloss lacquered surface, leaf gilded or a leather surface.
The installation kits include light sources, optical fibers, fire protective insulation and fastening elements. The system has minimal space needs, low weight and fulfils airworthiness requirements.
Starlight Carpet
Spectacular and exclusive: breath-taking light installations in high quality carpets. The Starlight Carpet installation is very robust and does not affect the walking comfort. Luxury that is hard to beat.
Wastewater System
The Wastewater System consists of up to six components with airworthiness approval that are described in the following (see Capability List):
Greywater Chamber Controller
The Greywater Chamber Controller (GCC) monitors the filling level of the Greywater Chamber and commands the generation of vacuum by the drainage system. In order to divert the vacuum pumping noise to the rear area, showers, bidets and hand wash basins are linked to the Greywater Chamber. The GCC fulfils RTCA DO-160D. In the future, the will take over the control function from the Greywater Chamber Controller (GCC).
Flush Valve
The Flush Valve can be integrated into the potable water system or the wastewater system (Greywater). The electric motor is protected against overheating.
Sink Chamber
The Sink Chamber (SC) is located in lavatories and galleys. It serves as an intermediary reservoir and is equipped with two level sensors for high and low level.
IR-Sensor
The IR-Sensor recognizes a person’s entry and exit into the area, by the changes in infrared emissions with a threshold level of 28° C.
It has many applications, is small and robust. To date more than 800 units have been sold to Completion Centers and OEMs and installed in various airplane types.
Shower Transfer Unit
The Shower Transfer Unit (STU), serves as an intermediate reservoir under the shower.
